Surgery Scheduler - Full Time
Oregon SugiCenter LLC has an opening for a full time Surgery Scheduler.
POSITION PURPOSE: Performs a full range of surgical scheduling functions to ensure the productive functioning of the operating room and treatment rooms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses automated scheduling system and established scheduling policies and procedures, accurately establishes surgical start times with physicians' office staff.
- Collaborates with Medical Director, Anesthesiologists, Nurse Manager, and supervisor regarding placement of cases in the surgical schedule.
- Produces surgical schedule and provides copies to the Nurse Manager for reproduction and distribution.
- Coordinates changes in surgical schedule with Nurse Manager and other affected parties.
- Answers telephone.
- Schedules surgeries and procedures. Obtains procedure, patient's name, age, address, telephone number, pre-operative diagnosis, and type of anesthesia to be used.
- Types and distributes following day's surgery schedule.
- Admits patients and obtains correct address and telephone number, date of birth, Social Security number, insurance information, etc.
- Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Participates in the Quality Improvement process and activities including the areas of Safety, Medical Records Maintenance, Patient Satisfaction, Physician Satisfaction, Documentation, Compliance with OSHA Standards, and Risk Management.
- Strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
REQUIREMENTS
- Possesses strong initiative to get daily work finished and processed.
- Has ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members.
- Possesses accurate judgment, especially handling insurance claims and dealing with patient accounts.
- Versatile and willing to coordinate with and participate in, when necessary, all other aspects of the Business Office.
- Is courteous, understanding, and sympathetic toward patients, physicians and others.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Working knowledge in coding CPT and ICD-9.
- Ability to set priorities and work independently.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Above average organizational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma. Experience in a medical or surgical setting preferred.
- Cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
- Well established organizational, communication and guest relations skills.
- Some knowledge of automated surgical systems helpful but not required.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. Covid vaccination is required.
